Deciding upon the right baby shower invitations can seem a little daunting or maybe slightly overwhelming at first, but creating the perfect invite with your own unique wording and interesting style and flair can be easily achieved.

Our free and easy to follow baby shower invitation guide offers some great ideas and tips and will hopefully help you towards creating and designing the perfect baby shower invitation cards.

Where to Purchase Your Baby Shower Invitations

You may find it difficult to find baby shower cards in shops; but as the world has become more and more internet oriented, this is one of the main places to look. Just log onto Google or the search engine of your choice and search for the words baby shower invitations. You will find a wide selection of on-line websites that offer this product in an instant.

Alternative Search Ideas:

  • Boy Baby Shower Invitations
  • Girl Baby Shower Invitations
  • Neutral Baby Shower Invitations
  • Twin Baby Shower Invitations

This is a great way to find the cards of your choice, and nearly all offer a personalized service so you can create your cards on-line exactly how you want them. Please make sure to preview your designs before you purchase and check for any spelling mistakes. This would be a very costly exercise and extremely disappointing if you found out later when your cards arrived that they contained errors and needed to be sent back.

Baby Shower Card Ideas and Tips

Before you start creating your invites, just keep in mind this will be the first contact made with party guests of what your shower may be like. You will need to focus on several elements of your baby shower from theme (thinking of colors to pull through onto your invites) to the actual wording you want to use. Do you know the sex of your baby? If so, try to create wording that is gender related.

Maybe you are inviting both female and male guests to your baby shower party. If this is the case it may be wise to avoid sending baby shower invitations out that show the pregnant form or a pregnant tummy; your male guests may feel a little uncomfortable with the image on the card.

Creating Your Baby Shower Invitations -- Theme Ideas

Before you go into a mad panic and start searching frantically for the ideal card, take some time to think about the type of card that would sum up your baby shower party.

Would you like your baby shower invites to reflect a certain theme? If your shower theme is going to be on rubber ducks or maybe Noah's Ark, for example, then try to choose cards that have this type of picture motif on them.

If you simply want a blue or pink theme and you know the gender of your baby, then simply select cards that have the colors on them or maybe a trace of color running through the card design.

If you have no theme in mind, then there are lots of alternative ways you can pull all the elements of your baby shower party together on the card. One of the main ways is to focus on the nursery. What is the color scheme, do you have a main theme that runs throughout the nursery, and is there a certain element of the nursery that you like the best?

Pick out the features, colors and designs you like the most and run them through your invites. This can be achieved by capturing the colors of the nursery through the font on the card and changing the way the font style looks on the cards. Some font styles look harsher then others; so if you want a soft and delicate font style, just select the font style option when designing your card and preview the card to see how it looks.

What to Say in Your Baby Shower Invitations

The main elements that need to be contained in your invitations are -

  • The date your shower is going to be on.
  • The time your party guests need to arrive.
  • Names of the guests of honor.
  • The location -- where your baby shower is going to be held. A map is very useful for guests who do not know the area well.
  • A note of where the mother or mother-to-be is registered for gifts. Some stationers provide gift registration cards that can be included in the invite.
  • RSVP -- Make sure you include a date of when you would like a reply back by. This gives you a chance to see how many people you will need to cater for.

If you're stuck for wording ideas, then take your time and browse around the website or several websites that offer baby shower stationary; some have wording libraries that can really help with various types of wording ideas.

You may want your wording to read in the form of a poem or a great little quote; and if you need a little help and your baby shower is not a surprise, then ask your friends and family for help or mommy-to-be. Don't think you have to do it all yourself.

If you're throwing a surprise shower for mommy or mommy-to-be, then don't forget to let the guests know to keep the celebrations a secret in the wording of your baby shower invitation card. You could include words such as -

  • Keep it a secret.
  • Don't tell a soul.
  • Keep it under your hat.

Baby Shower Invitation Timing

That last thing to remember is to send out your baby shower invitations early; this will allow people to leave that date free or re-arrange their day to be able to attend the shower. This will also give you the opportunity to plan for the number of people attending the shower; so make sure you leave enough time in between the RSVP date to the date of the actual baby shower taking place.

Your RSVP date would usually be at least 3 - 4 weeks prior to the baby shower taking place.

But please remember the main objective of the shower is to have plenty of fun.

Have a great baby shower day.
